Benny Baker serves as
the President of "Mision Para Cristo de Nicaragua"
an ONG (Non-Governmental Organization) in Nicaragua. Olive
Branch has established ties with this organization and
in 2004 took a mission to Wiwili, Nicaragua.
Misión Para Cristo works to
share Jesus as we serve people in Nicaragua. The mission's
main objective is for the message of our Lord to be heard
by all people. To accomplish this objective, the mission
works with the church of Christ in Nicaragua to serve
poeple with health, agriculture, education, feeding and
shelter.
In 1997 God blessed the starting
of Misión Para Cristo with the opening of a medical
clinic as the outreach tool for the congregation in Jinotega,
Nicaragua. That clinic to date has seen over 100,000 people
and we now have three clinics in Nicaragua seeing over
2,300 patients a month. Plans are being made to open two
more clinics in 2005. To the work of the clinics was added
our ?Just One More?? children?s program (which includes
Bible training, helping Children to go school, ?A Smile
for A Child?, and feeding of children), Prison Outreach,
building of homes and church buildings, and campaign groups.
Working with the local congregations,
keeping the main thing the main thing, is our number one
objective. We have been able to help plant eight congregations
over the last three years and plans are to plant three
in 2005. In 2003 the Institute for the Preparation of
Workers was started to help train and mature workers for
the church in Northern Nicaragua. God has blessed us with
over 200 baptisms each of the last three years.
We are blessed to have a great team
of workers in Nicaragua and all the direct work of the
mission is done by the brethren there.
